Equipment required

• 50m or 100m plastic tape for running out each transect from the base point to the high water mark. Inexpensive tapes available are from hardware merchants.
• Clipboard, survey sheets printed from the Coastal Monitoring Database website, pens/pencils.
• 2m high, 1cm diameter fibreglass pole for point sampling, marked with height measurements at 10cm intervals.
• GPS unit for finding the transect start point latitude/longitude and transect bearing.
• iPhone: the Compass app is needed for finding the angle at each major change in dune slope along the transect..
